We very much like to have our friends to diner. Is there anything better than a nice and quiet diner with good friends to spend a great night?
Yesterday then, we had guests! The challenge for me was to prepare a lactose free diner, because of the allergy of one of my guests. Au menu yesterday: salmon toasts, chicken foil parcels and for dessert, a classic from my family recipe book: The apple “moelleux”. This is the first recipe I’ll share with you!
- 4 apples
- 150g of flour
- 150g of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Mix all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, salt. Next, add the eggs one by one until you have a beautiful creamy dough. Peel the apples and cut them into small pieces. Mix them with the dough.
COOKING
Put in the oven for 50 min.
Classic but very useful: check the cook by sticking the blade of a knife into the cake. This one must come out dry.
SERVING SUGGESTION
I really like to eat this cake cold. So don’t forget to prepare it long enough before serving it, in order to leave the cake a few hours in the fridge.
You can serve the cake with some Crème Anglaise or some vanilla ice cream. This time I picked apple pieces to go with the cake. Much more healthy isn’t it?
TIPS AND TRICKS
You can make an easy variation of this recipe by replacing apples with canned pears (1kg), it makes it smoother! It should also be possible to reduce the quantity of sugar to 100g. To be tested!
