Green poêlée with shrimps

Hi everybody!

The special today is a salty dish recipe! I’m fond of vegetable poêlées (vegetables cooked in a frying pan): it’s healthy because we usually don’t add any animal fat, not too long to cook and above all, it’s tasty :D

I usually use frozen vegetables but this time fresh leeks and zucchinis went in my pan!

The poêlée of the day will only contain green vegetables, some freshly peeled shrimps and a slight Asian touch with soya sauce and sesame seeds.

Here are the quantities for 2 plates:
  • 2 leeks
  • 1 zucchinis
  • 4 « heads » of broccoli (defrost this time)
  • About 15 shrimps (or about 165g whole shrimps and only 50g when peeled, snif!)
  • A handful of sesame seeds
  • Olive oil
  • 3 tbs of soya sauce (more or less depending on your tastes)
  • 1 tbs of rice vinegar (optional)

We start by cutting the vegetables:

Peel the leeks and bevel them. Rinse under cool water.

Dice the zucchini. To do it, I advise you to start by cutting down the length (after having removed extremities). Cut in the same way each half. Then form long shapes and dice them by cutting in the opposite side. Right, this is not clear ^^, so here is a picture that should help make everything crystal clear :D

Finally, cut the four small heads of broccoli just for it to be eatable with chopsticks :p

Over medium flame, heat a frying pan with olive oil and put all the vegetables in it. If you want to avoid having grinding leeks, I would recommend cooking them a few minutes before adding the others vegetables.

Peel the shrimps in the meantime.

Just before the end of the cooking, increase the heat a bit in order to brown the vegetables. Then add shrimps, soya sauce, sesame seeds and mix. Let it cook for a few minutes. When it’s done, turn off the heat, add the tablespoonful of rice vinegar if you’d like to, and mix everything.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Don’t forget to add the shrimps just at the end of the cooking. We don’t want them to be too cooked, that will make them rubbery.

Reheating the plates for 45-60 seconds in the microwave oven will keep the poêlée nicely warmed!

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Prepare the plates and serve immediately! You can serve with a bit of wasabi for those who like this horseradish :)

Bon appétit !

Rose.
